ABOUT LIZ FAREED
Liz started studying the Pilates method in 1996 while performing with a modern dance company in Chicago. She was hooked immediately by the fact that Pilates is challenging both mentally and physically. She started training and working at Body Balance in Chicago. After moving to NY, Liz was certified by Brooke Siler at re:ab Pilates - a program that included over 700 hours of hands on learning and student teaching. Prior to becoming a Pilates Instructor, Liz graduated from The Boston Conservatory with a BFA in Dance, and has performed and taught ballet, modern and contemporary ballet in New England, Chicago, and Westchester County, NY.
For the past 10 years, Liz has honed her own skills as a teacher. She has been able to work with many clients who have different body types or injuries. Some clients were recovering from cancer treatments, surgeries, hip and knee replacements, or dealing with chronic pain. She has taught women during and after their pregnancies, and worked with highly trained athletes, runners, golfers and swimmers. She truly learned to tailor each session to the needs of the person in front of her. Liz continues her own practice of Pilates with private sessions and continuing education workshops. She lives in Cortlandt Manor, NY with her husband and 3 teenagers, and loves hiking, kayaking and reading. If she could maintain an outdoor Pilates studio, she would! |
