WHAT IS PILATES
Pilates is a complete exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates to strengthen the muscles, increase flexibility, and improve overall health. Exercises are performed on a mat or specially designed equipment. The Pilates system works every part of the body, with concentration placed on working from the "powerhouse" or center of the body. Movements emphasize form and alignment as well as breathing and flow. The method works to improve posture, balance, and efficiency of movement in each person's daily activities.
